In an article in the Fall 2010 news letter from the MIT School of Science, Professors Kerry Emanuel and Dan Rothman, introduce the new Lorenz Institute, a 'think tank' dedicated to the study of climate as an intellectual pursuit.
The Institute is to be named for Edward N. Lorenz, a long time member of the PAOC faculty, the founder of chaos theory and an early pioneer in climate science. Professor Lorenz died in 2008.
